Tricuspid Valve

There is physiologically some regurgitation at the tricuspid valve although the amount is so small as to not usually cause a murmur and is only detectable on Doppler ultrasound.

Tricuspid valve disease where it occurs will produce a dilated RV (Right Ventricle) as the ventricle will try to maintain the 'forward' pumping of the blood by pumping more.

The murmur heard in tricuspid regurgitation (TR) will alter depending on the cause of the TR, but there should be a systolic murmur that is increased on inspiration. (This has the fancy name of Rivero Caravallo's sign)
